The excitement of this excursion is seeing the Jatiluwih rice terraces as an example of one of the world's best agrarian systems which has been established as a multi-tiered rice fields, canals and terraced hillsides to grow rice. Subak is also home to a generations-old democratic and communal organization, the members of which abide by its rules in planting, with irrigation and farming as well as religious rituals. The other excitement is visiting Tanah Lot who serves to pay homage to the guardian spirits of the sea. It is located on top of a huge rock surrounded on all sides by the sea and is truly spectacular at sunset. Poisonous sea snakes found at the base of the rocky island are believed to guard the temple from evil spirits and intruders.
